Gary and Matthew:
Somehow I did not read carefully and was thinking about other
translations. I am not familiar with the New World Translation, and
you two may well be right. And, probably are.
I was thinking of the NIV, KJV and many early "copies" of the NT Greek,
where I think the mistranslations and poor translations were accidental
or attempts to "correct" the earlier manuscripts.
Please excuse me for my error.

Why am I not surprised?

So there are some things that God _cannot_ will, therefore His will
isn't free.

How can a will that is constrained be free?

You undercut your own argument because you agree that there are some
things where God _could not_ have done otherwise.
