One way out of this conundrum, is that man is responsible -- not because
man is free (which the Scriptures do not teach) -- but by divine fiat.

I have very little time now for lengthy discussions, so I'll just address
the main points raised.

I have seen the folly of debates or "apologetics". They bring little or no
glory to God. If one's goal is to win hearts and minds, more can be
accomplished by following the example of the Great Teacher, the Lord Jesus
Christ. Granted, debates can be instructive, but often their focus is
shifted to polemics or are mainly for entertainment, to see who argues
'better'. That must be why there is no record of Christ challenging the
Pharisees to debates, even though he could have beat them every time. He
was interested in winning hearts, not arguments. He wanted to attract,
humble, sheeplike people, not proud apologist
