Interestingly, Job didn't have such a high opinion of himself: "If I
justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am
perfect, it shall also prove me perverse." (Job 9: 21) However, I dare
not gainsay the Lord in this matter.
Noah also was also "a just man and perfect in his generations" (Gen.
6:9), and David's heart was supposedly perfect (1 Kgs. 11: 4, 1 Kgs.
15: 3), "Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days." (1
Kgs. 15: 14, 2 Chr. 15: 17), Hezekiah pleaded the same to the Lord (2
Kgs. 20: 3, Isa. 38: 3).
However, in teaching our need for Christ's atonement, Paul taught that
all have sinned. (Rom. 3:10, 23; 5:12). He taught that the faith of
all the saints through all the ages was centered on Christ, but that ".
. . these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received
not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that
they without us should not be made perfect." (Heb. 11:39-40). Note
that in this context he specifically mentioned "perfect" Noah.
Is it possible that the Greek and Hebrew for "perfect" have subtle
differences in meaning?

Perhaps Job and the other ancient saints, who according to Paul lived
by faith in Christ, were made "perfect" (Hebrew), having their sins
washed clean, even before his advent into mortality, through the sure
promise of his atonement. Perhaps these, though clean, still awaited
"perfection/completeness?" Perhaps "perfection/completeness" is not
possible without resurrection? That, of course, could not begin until
after the resurrection of Christ. Perhaps their completeness depended
not only on their individual resurrection, but also waited upon
unification in God's presence with the saints of all future times?
Of Christ himself, Paul said, "Though he were a Son, yet learned he
obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he
became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him."
