1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye
should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out
of darkness into his marvellous light:
Is the above not addressed to the Church?
I believe so. So here we have God telling us through the
Apostle Peter that
the church is "an holy nation."

Give me a break. There is no NT principlization pointing to a singular
ecclessiastical entity with a board of "govenors" or bishops. Christ
is our Vicar. Power was given to elders within their local assemblies,
not over others. Even Paul does not assert himself and his apostolic
superiority over the Corithian church when writing from Ephesus.
As for the Greek "episcopus", it is used in Lk 1:68 where it is
translated "visited". "Epi" is generally understood as "over."
"scopus" speaks of "intense oberservation." "Episcopus" was a military
term given to the "o
