You are not the first to point this out to him. I wonder how many of us he will

Did you miss the point, Loren? The verb your translation translates as
'possessed' can also take the meaning 'create' -- even if this sense for it is
QUITE rare! That is why the ancient translators were split on this one: some
translated 'possessed' others as 'created/made'.

So although I certainly agree with you that 8:22 must not be taken as implying
that Christ HImself is created, I do have to point out that there are still more
'i's and 't's to be dotted and crossed here.
