Whoops! I meant sec. 3.6.3.

If we don't agree on which books are part of Scripture, then
how can we properly "search Scripture"? Canonization IS the
agree on what is Scripture and what is not. If we don't agree,
then we have _divisions_. So eliminating the canon doesn't
prevent divisions. The options are either divisions or canon.

I can think of several counterexamples. Google "James Harris"
and see the cause of over TEN YEARS of pollution on sci.math.
There are spats where fully half of the 400 posts per day are
either his or responses to him. (I filter out all his posts
and all responses to his posts and I get only about 100 per day.)
Yet he persists in his obvious error and trollery.

There are others: Achimedes Plutonium (formerly Ludwig Plutonium)
Alexander Abian (now deceased) and a clown who calls himself "Herc",
but construct the "H" out of to pipes and a hypen. They're all
quite persistant in claiming things about mathematics which are
well-known and easily proved false.

(In response, John Baez created the Crackpot Index which is a
methodical way of measuring the level of crackpothood of a
poster. Google "Crackpot index". It's quite amusing and
quite amazing that people we think are crackpots score
very high in his system. While sane people score very low.)

When you tell a panicked person to relax, they don't relax,
because you've just proven to them that you haven't grasped
the seriousness of the situation. Which just panics them more.

If you prove a narcissistic quack wrong, he won't go away,
you've merely proven to him that your mental capabilities
are far inferior, as you can not grasp the "bigger picture."

Thanks be to God we have a moderator.
