Hidden in the first statement is receiving Christ.
The benefits of Christ's death are only APPLIED
to those who believe in Him, and by faith we
receive Him and His work.
understood in 1. above is:
"Because [I believe] Jesus died for me."
If you don't believe Jesus died for you, you
don't benefit from it.
