Sorry to answer my own post, but I just noticed that Bart
made a logical error in his own sentence.
Quote Bart: " I haven't asserted anything. "
The above IS an ASSERTION.

The best I can figure is that in John 8 the Lord takes the people to
task for being "partial in the Law" (Mal 2:9).
Yes, the Law called for capital punishment of those who commit
adultery. See Lev 20:10. Note that *both* are to be punished. Now
notice in John 8, they confront the Lord with only the woman,
asserting that they caught her in the act.
While not justifying her conduct, I consider it possible that they
"ambushed" her to put the Lord on the spot. He would have no part in
their farce.
This scenario makes more sense to me than the idea that capital
punishment was mandated in the OT and then God changed His mind about
it.
My ancestors swung by their necks, not their tails.

And therefore, one is saved regardless of what one's
"free will" has done. I'm still amazed that you can't
see the contradictions you write. You can't have it
both ways. If salvation is "entirely" by the power
of God, then where is your exercise of "free will"?
