The real issue is whether salvation occurs at a point, but having been
decided by Christ; not by ourselves. And that is effected by
obedience to a plurality of commandments.
John 14:15-17 If you love Me, keep My commandments. (16) And I will
pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He
may be with you forever, (17) the Spirit of Truth, whom the world
cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know
Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you.
One may argue (weakly) that this passage is not specific to salvation,
but the concept of works as a neccessity is strengthened by it, as by
others spoken by Christ. If you are not aware of the others then just
ask me to quote them.
What only Paul has written is not sufficient to overcome it in truth
(if not elsewhere). Considering all 'scriptures' as 'equal' would
seem a hazardous method to construct one's foundation of beliefs.
Every verse has a context. Indeed, so does every author. Man has
decided what makes up the Bible.
But works do not save, Christ does. And repentance & acknowledgement
& teaching (such as by the thief on a cross) is a step towards
following Christ.
