Sacrifice everything for the sake of love and compromise nothing for the
sake of the Gospel.
If my Baptist aunt-in-law visits my house and I want to have a
beer, there are two scenerios:
1. Her faith is weak and the presence of beer drinkers
challenges her faith. In this case, I'm bound to hide the
beer and refrain from drinking during her visit.
2. She boldly announces that drinking beer is a sin,
and tells me I'm going to hell for it. In this case,
I'm bound to proclaim the Gospel by chugging one (or two)
defiantly.

I think Bob is correct. A person can actively ascend or descend in a
building by using the stairs or passively ascend or descend by using an
elevator. I see no reason to limit the word "ascend" to climbing
the stairs and not apply it also to riding up in an elevator. If God
reaches down and raises a man to heaven, the man can be said to have
ascended to heaven. If on the other hand he climbs Jacob's ladder to
heaven, he also can be said to have ascended to heaven.
