I am glad you pointed this out, Bart. For as long as I was the only one making
this obvious point explicit, Loren could easily make the excuse that it was just
me saying it, and my opinion had no weight.

But now he will have to resort to flimsier excuses, since you and I, who
disagree so sharply on so many things, agree so completely on this one.

And I don't even see this last condition "whether the person ... sin" very
often. What I see far, far too often is your first condition: nobody will heed
Solomon and listen to what they do not want to hear. They take offense at what
should have given no offense, and use that as their flimsy excuse to ignore the
wisdom in the painful words.

For he said quite clearly (and this is not the only one):

He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul;
but he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding. (Pro 15:32 JPS)
