>>>Well, of course the OT was written and collected long before there
>>>was any hint of the Orthodox Church.
>>
>> You are mistaken. The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which
>> is the Orthodox Church existed BEFORE the collection of the Scriptures
>> by ANY reckoning.
>
>Please explain. The last book of what is commonly called the "Old
>Testament" was written over 400 years before any church existed.
The Church IS the New Israel. So your objection is irrelevant and without merit.
>>>We disagree upon which precedes which. I believe that God gave
>>>the Scripture to the Church, not that the Church gave the Scripture
>>>to us.
>>
>> The Church wrote, collected, compiled and transmitted the body of the
>> canon.
>
>The individual books of the "NT" were written by individual Jewish
>Christians, most of whom were apostles of Christ. The canon closed with the
>death of the apostle John.
No, the Canon did NOT close with the death of John. On the contrary: the NT
Canon was quite different in different parts of the Christian world until
CENTURIES after the death of John.
So, for example, the Armenians _to this day_ accept a THIRD Epistle of St. Paul
to the Corinthians, a book the rest of us consider of at best minor historical
interest.
Similarly, th Ethiopians have yet another Apocalyptic book, in which Christ
Himself predicts an Ethiopian king will cast the Muslims out of Africa. But the
rest of us do not accept this book.
>>The church existed BEFORE the first book of the NT was written.
>
>True. The Christian congregation was born at Pentecost 33 C.E. and Matthew
>wrote his gospel around 41 C.E.
Finally, a recognition of the obvious!
>>>We can see from the OT how the "church" generally did not accept
>>>the truth, nor did it keep it. Generally the church disobeyed the
>>>Scripture,
>>>and we have prophecy in the NT that the same thing would occur with
>>>the NT writings.
>>
>> Yes, and the vast majority of those who claim to be Christians do not
>> follow Biblical doctrines.

>Quite true. Thus, those who truly follow Christ are the *minority* NOT the
>majority:

>"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that
>leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow
>the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it
>are few." Matt. 7:13-14
But pay clsoe attention to what He said: He said THE narrow gate. Not just ANY
"narrow gate". You JWs have set up a _false_ "narrow gate", and then exalt<
