Excellent points, all.

Jesus' clarification of the commandments neatly encompasses and warns
against a lot of what we see our political leaders (yes, even the
so-called
"faith-based" ones) promoting. The whole notion of "if you want
something
badly enough, and you work hard enough for it, you're entitled to it",
which
seems to underscore the American concept of liberty, leaves God out of
the
equation completely. Then, when it's politically advantageous, they get
up in
arms over gay marriage and a Superbowl halftime faux pas, as though one
sin trumps another somehow. How convenient. How unbiblical, though.

You are not in touch with reality.
Accepting a free gift is NOT WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS!
PERIOD!

Get over Luther or whatever you have.

This is true. God saves one when they believe in Christ.
No matter how often you rave it will not change the Gospel
one whit.

It most certainly is NOT "loving God above all things!"

You either cannot or will not understand plain language!

The Gospel is truly what Christ did, but it is applied only to
those who believe.

And it is not about what "Jesus does," it is about what JESUS DID!

As Paul said,
1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I
preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By
which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to
the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third
day according to the scriptures:

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every
