You did not get _that_ from the Catechism of the RCC! How do I know? Because St.
Maximus the Confessor is considered a saint in your church too, his teaching is
still highly respected even in Rome, and he very definitely contradicts you.
For St. Maximus reveals that the purpose is NOT the Incarnation of the Son, but
the restoration of all things, uniting all of visible and invisible creation,
intelligent and merely material creation, into one and then presenting that to
God.
Adam lost the ability to do that with the Fall, (and therefore so did we), so
_then_ the Incarnation became necessary, not only to save Man, but to accomplish
what Man could no longer accomplish, the restoration of all things
(APOKATASTASIS TWN PANTWN).

On the subject of private revelations and apparitions, this man was
converted to Catholicism from Baptist and really searches and examines
many of the questions many of us have had over discerning private
revelation and the often times surprising response of the church. Its
really worth a look. This man does an extraordinary job at examining
the questions and confusion surrounding private revelation in the last
50 years. It is more than worth a look.
Its 62 pages.
