I am sorry if I ever gave the impression that I agree at all
with the
"author" idea.

God is the "author" of reality, in which REAL characters
exist.
These REAL persons are made in the image of God in that they
also have wills which are "self determined."

Perhaps rather than using the term "free will" we should use
the term "self determined."

There are only three possibilities:

1) SELF - determination, where the actions are caused by the
SELF.
2) determinism: (acts caused by another)
3) indeterminism: (acts with no cause whatsoever.)

with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as
oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times
shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the
kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots;
thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known
that the heavens do rule.

27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and
break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing
mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

AFAIK Nebuchadnezzar died in peace, and the described events came uppon
